FEEL Employable Programme at Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur – A Transformational Experience

In March 2026, my wife Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya and I had the unique opportunity of participating as Resource Persons in the prestigious FEEL Employable Programme, conducted at Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), Tumkur.

This three-day learning and development intervention, organized by CLHRD – College for Leadership and Human Resource Development, Mangaluru, was a truly enriching and transformative experience—not only for the students but also for us as facilitators.

🎯 About the FEEL Employable Programme

The FEEL Employable Programme is a carefully designed three-day orientation programme aimed at equipping students with essential employability skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and self-awareness. (sit.ac.in)

The programme goes beyond academic learning and focuses on preparing students to meet real-world professional challenges. It has been a part of SIT’s training ecosystem for many years, contributing significantly to student development. (Siddaganga Institute of Technology)

🎓 About Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT)

The programme was conducted at Siddaganga Institute of Technology, one of the most respected engineering institutions in Karnataka.

SIT is known not only for its academic excellence but also for its strong emphasis on holistic student development, combining technical knowledge with soft skills training. (Siddaganga Institute of Technology)

The institute is closely associated with the historic Siddaganga Mutt, a spiritual and educational centre that has played a pivotal role in promoting values such as discipline, service, and simplicity.

The campus provides a serene and inspiring environment where academic excellence, discipline, and spiritual values coexist harmoniously.

🌍 Why Students Choose SIT – Insights from Interaction

During the programme, I had the opportunity to interact with students from across India, including Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Noida, and Bihar.

These interactions revealed several reasons why students prefer Siddaganga Institute of Technology:

  • Strong placement record with opportunities in top companies
  • A peaceful and disciplined campus environment
  • Recognition through NIRF ranking and academic reputation
  • Presence of dedicated and committed faculty
  • Availability of skill development programmes like FEEL Employable

These factors clearly establish SIT as a destination for quality education and career readiness.

🚀 The Learning Experience

The FEEL Employable programme followed an experiential learning approach, where students actively participated in a wide range of activities designed to enhance their personal and professional skills.

Some of the key activities included:

  • Breaking the Ice
  • Human Resource Exercises
  • Self-Esteem Development
  • Communication and Relationship Building
  • Group Discussions
  • Bio-Data Preparation
  • Interview Practice and Evaluation

Each activity encouraged students to reflect, interact, and grow, making learning both engaging and meaningful.

🤝 Interaction and Transformation

Over the course of three days, we witnessed a remarkable transformation in the students.

Initially, many students appeared hesitant and reserved. However, as the sessions progressed, they began to:

  • Express themselves more confidently
  • Participate actively in discussions
  • Demonstrate teamwork and leadership
  • Develop clarity in communication

The programme helped them realize that confidence and success come from within.

🙏 Visit to Siddaganga Mutt – A Spiritual Experience

One of the most memorable moments of our visit was witnessing the mass evening prayer at Siddaganga Mutt.

More than ten thousand students gathered together in prayer, creating an atmosphere filled with discipline, unity, and spiritual energy.

The experience was deeply inspiring and served as a reminder that true education is a blend of knowledge, values, and character.

👥 The Facilitator Team

The programme was led by the visionary HRD trainer Prof. Sunny Tharappan, Director of CLHRD, whose innovative approach to training has transformed thousands of students.

The team also included:

  • Mr. Sathyendra Bhat – AJ Institute of Engineering
  • Mr. Chitrakumar – CLHRD, Mangaluru
  • Ms. Sreemathy S – St. Joseph’s College, Chennai
  • Ms. Suja – St. Joseph’s College, Chennai

Along with them, my wife Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya and I participated as Resource Persons, contributing to interview sessions and student interactions.

🎤 Interviews and Evaluation

One of the most impactful components of the programme was the individual interview sessions.

These interviews focused on:

  • Personality
  • Communication skills
  • Confidence
  • Interpersonal abilities

Unlike traditional interviews, the focus was not on subject knowledge but on human qualities and employability skills.

✈️ Journey and Experience

We travelled from Mangalore to Bangalore by air and then proceeded to Tumkur by road.

Our stay at Vigneshwara Comforts was comfortable and well-organized.

After successfully completing the programme, we returned on 12th March 2026, carrying with us unforgettable memories and a sense of fulfillment.

🌟 Conclusion

Participating in the FEEL Employable Programme was a deeply rewarding experience.

It reaffirmed the importance of:

  • Self-awareness
  • Confidence building
  • Human values
  • Effective communication

Programmes like these play a vital role in shaping future-ready professionals and responsible citizens.

We express our sincere gratitude to Prof. Sunny Tharappan and CLHRD for giving us the opportunity to be part of this meaningful initiative.

📌 Final Reflection

In today’s competitive world, success is not determined solely by academic knowledge.

It is shaped by attitude, communication, values, and self-belief.

The FEEL Employable Programme stands as a powerful example of how education can truly transform lives.
