Reflections on the Goliyangadi High School Alumni Reunion 1976
I
had the privilege of attending the Goliyangadi High School Alumni Reunion of
the 1976 batch, held on 17 January 2026 at Matha Gardens & Resorts I
participated in that programme along with my wife, who was a student of
Goliyangadi High School.. While a detailed report of the reunion has already
been published earlier

this post is my personal reflection on the event and the emotions it evoked.
A
Reunion That Found Its Anchor
In the days leading up to the reunion, many of us were quietly wondering who would take up the responsibility of organising the 2026 meet. It was reassuring and heartening to see Dinakar Shetty step forward with confidence and commitment. His efforts to reach out to classmates, coordinate logistics, and hold everything together were remarkable. Vinay Kumar Shetty, who worked closely with him, added strength and continuity to the process.
One
of the most encouraging aspects of this year’s reunion was the increase in
attendance compared to the previous year. This growth reflected renewed
enthusiasm among classmates and gave all of us a sense of satisfaction that our
alumni bond is deepening slowly but surely.
The
Setting That Enhanced the Spirit
The
choice of Matha Gardens & Resorts as the venue turned out to be a
thoughtful and fitting decision. The greenery, calm surroundings, and natural
beauty created an atmosphere that allowed conversations to flow effortlessly.
By 10:00 a.m., classmates had begun arriving, and by 10:30 a.m., the
ice-breaking session commenced.
Dinakar
Shetty welcomed everyone and encouraged self-introductions. What followed was a
delightful sequence of humorous, emotional, and sometimes deeply reflective
introductions. The years seemed to dissolve as classmates spoke—some with
laughter, some with nostalgia, and some with quiet gratitude.
Memories
Revisited, Bonds Renewed
Several
participants shared rare incidents from school life—stories that had remained
untold for decades. There were recollections of classroom mischief, songs sung
together, jokes that only classmates could appreciate, and affectionate
memories of teachers who truly cared for their students.
Equally
touching were conversations about family journeys, professional lives,
children’s achievements, and milestones yet to come. Invitations were extended,
blessings exchanged, and the sense of belonging grew stronger with every
interaction.
The
presence of spouses added warmth to the gathering, making it not just a reunion
of classmates but a celebration of extended lives shaped after school.
Moments
Beyond Words
Games
were played, photographs were taken, and candid moments were captured—some
framed in cameras, others etched quietly into memory. The reunion formally
concluded at 5:00 p.m., with prayers for health and prosperity, a vote
of thanks by Hemalatha, and the felicitation of the organizer Dr. Dinakar
Shetty.
Yet,
for many of us, the reunion did not truly end there. A few members stayed back
overnight, continuing conversations late into the evening, reluctant to part
ways once again.
A
Personal Takeaway
For me,
this reunion was not merely an event—it was a gentle reminder of where we
began, of friendships that have endured time, distance, and change. It
reaffirmed that while life takes us on different paths, the roots formed during
our school years remain deeply embedded.
I am
grateful to have been part of this gathering and to document it through this
reflection, as a continuation of our shared alumni story.
