Empowering Change: World EV Day Celebration in Manipal

I am delighted to have been part of the World EV Day celebration held in Manipal, under the guidance of Dr. Vivekananda Bhat, Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics. The event also saw the active participation of Dr. Vishal Shanbhag, Associate Professor in the Department of Critical Care, and Dr. Sumukh R Hegde from the Department of Anaesthesiology.

In our journey towards a greener tomorrow, electric vehicles represent more than just a technological advancement; they symbolize a profound shift in our relationship with the environment. On World EV Day, we come together to celebrate the freedom of choice, the opportunity to reduce emissions, and the power to contribute to a sustainable world.

The widespread adoption of electric vehicles is closely linked to the development of charging infrastructure. Our day commenced at 6:30 AM as we embarked on a rally from the DC Office Circle in Manipal, heading towards Kaup Beach. This pristine beach, located in the Udupi District, is renowned for its picturesque views, tranquil backwaters, and breathtaking sunsets. Surprisingly, Kaup Beach remains relatively undiscovered by tourists, preserving its pristine and peaceful ambiance. Besides offering a connection with nature, the beach provides various exciting activities for enjoyment. With coconut trees and backwaters on one side and the sea on the other, a drive along this beach is a rejuvenating experience.

Our journey continued to the captivating Mattu Beach, situated approximately 10 kilometers from Udupi city. Mattu Beach is a hidden gem in the state, far removed from the hustle and bustle of urban life. It offers a secluded paradise for those seeking relaxation amid natural surroundings. This unexplored beach boasts the enchanting beauty of nature, swaying coconut and palm trees, and refreshing sea breezes. We savored our time at the beach, capturing memorable moments through photographs.

Following our beach excursion, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Hotel Karthik near Udyavar. During our breakfast, we engaged in insightful discussions about electric vehicles, charging stations, various applications, and Dr. Bhat's experiences during his travels throughout Karnataka with an electric vehicle. It was a remarkable learning experience, interacting with young, energetic, and dynamic EV owners.

I would like to extend my appreciation to Dr. Bhat, who coordinated the World EV Day 2023 event. I am proud to have been part of this global celebration of electric vehicles and their pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future.

Very nice article about your beach experience. Please add something about the convenience and experience of EV driving and charging related issues if any while travelling long distances. 🙏 Divakara Alva
