Sureshramana Mayya: Journey Through Academic Commitments: From Bangalore Lounges to Hyatt Raipur's Luxury

Embarking on academic explorations is a pursuit close to my heart, and the NAAC Peer Team visits to various educational institutions offer a unique lens into this world. Today, on 23 September 2023, I set out for Raipur, with my journey commencing at 8:30 am. My trusted cab driver, a familiar face from the Sarathi brand, was punctual, ensuring a smooth start to the day. Back home, my wife adeptly stepped into my shoes, managing the day-to-day tasks I usually oversee, she seemed not happy for being absent for six days.

Some friends, especially, Prof. Anand Bhat and Dr. N T Bhat, reached out, hoping to see me at MGM College's prestigious Amrutha Mahotsava at 11 am. While the event boasted of a distinguished lineup, including luminaries such as Dr. H Sudarshan Ballal, Sri Satish U Pai, and my old friend, Prof. Shreesha Achar, my obligations in Raipur meant I couldn’t attend. I conveyed my regrets and explained my commitments with NAAC.

Arriving at Mangalore Airport by 10 am gave me ample time before boarding my flight to Bangalore. In a rare oversight, I missed the usual gate change announcement by Indigo. However, the airline's proactive staff ensured I was informed just in the nick of time, allowing me to make the flight. To my delight, my corporate fare with Indigo now included a delightful snack bag, a refreshing change from the previous in-flight offerings of upma or nuts.

Touching down in Bangalore at 12:30 pm, I navigated the domestic transfer process efficiently and made my way towards the departure gates. After completing the standard security procedures, I found myself standing at the entrance to the 080 Lounge. Presenting my SBI Wealth Card, I was granted entry.

Bangalore's airport had, in its repertoire, a previous gem known as the Above Ground Level Lounge. After lying dormant for over a year, the space has been reborn as the 080 Lounge, aptly named after Bangalore's STD code. There are two variations of this lounge now — one in the domestic departure and the other in the international section.

Managed by TFS, these lounges live up to the benchmark of sophistication and service seen across major Indian airports. To reach the premium lounge, one simply follows the signboards, choosing either the escalator or the adjacent elevator to ascend to the mezzanine floor.

Once inside, I was struck by the spaciousness and modern design of the lounge. A swift check-in using my SBI Wealth Card and I was immersed in the luxurious ambiance. The lounge boasts of multiple sections, each thoughtfully designed. The expansive dining space next to the buffet stood out, complete with various seating arrangements. For professionals on the move, dedicated closed workspaces are a boon, providing the perfect backdrop for important calls or online meetings.

Upon my arrival at Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur at 5.30 pm, I was warmly received by two faculty members from the college I was to visit. They whisked me away to Hyatt Raipur for an overnight stay before my scheduled visit to the college. Hyatt Raipur truly is an epitome of luxury and elegance, located strategically in Raipur, the heart of Chhattisgarh. It's a harmonious blend of contemporary design and traditional elegance. The rooms are opulently designed, providing every amenity a traveler could wish for, ensuring a lavish and comfortable stay. With its premium services, Hyatt Raipur caters to both leisure seekers and business professionals. Their top-notch business center and adaptable meeting spaces make it an ideal choice for corporate guests.

Its central location is an added advantage, making city exploration and business meetings conveniently accessible. But what struck me most, both during this visit and my prior one, is the hotel's exceptional service. In today's world, with health being a prime concern, I was reassured by the hotel's stringent safety and hygiene measures.

This being my second stay, I was reminded once again why Hyatt Raipur stands as a paragon of hospitality in the region.
