It has long been a custom in our family to invite close relatives to our home after their marriage. Though Srikanth, the only son of my elder sister Vedavathi, had been married for some time, he and his family had not yet visited our house together. That changed on 10th August 2025, when I received a pleasant phone call from my sister. She informed me that they had decided to come to our home around noon.
The call came at 10 a.m., and I immediately thought it was the perfect opportunity to host them for lunch at White Lotus Hotel in Udupi, especially since their “Atidonji Dina” special menu was being served that day.
As promised, they arrived at 11:45 a.m.—my sister Vedavathi, Srikanth, and his wife. It was truly heartwarming to see them, looking happy and content in their life together. After welcoming them warmly and offering gifts, we all headed to White Lotus.
To make the occasion even more special, we invited my brother-in-law Shri Gopikrishna Bhat and his wife Smt. Saraswathi to join us. Their presence enhanced the joy and spirit of the gathering. At the hotel, we relished the Atidonji Dina menu, filled with traditional and authentic dishes that delighted everyone.
After returning home, we spent quality time in conversation, reminiscing about pleasant memories and sharing laughter. Before they left, I expressed a heartfelt wish—that my sister should make it a point to visit our home every month, so that such moments of togetherness become a regular part of our lives.
This day reminded me that while traditions anchor us, it is these simple family gatherings that add warmth, happiness, and meaning to our lives.
