Today was a heartwarming and memorable day as I had the pleasure of
attending the wedding ceremony of Chi. Sou. Amritha, daughter of Shri K.
Parameshwara Adiga and Smt. Aruna, with Chi. Anoop, son of Shri A.
Gopalakrishna Acharya and Smt. Meenakshi, held at the elegant Vanitha Achyuth
Pai Convention Centre, Mangaluru.
Amritha is the daughter of my dear classmate Parameshwara Adiga. I shared my college days at Poornaprajna College, Udupi, during our Bachelor
of Business Management (BBM) years from 1977 to 1980. Seeing a friend’s daughter step into a new chapter of her life was a nostalgic moment.
The Journey
I started from Manipal at 7:30 AM, reached Udupi by 8:00 AM, and arrived
at KPT Junction, Mangalore by 9:20 AM. From there, I took another bus and
reached the venue by 9:30 AM — just in time for the morning festivities.
A Traditional Feast and Familiar Faces
Upon arrival, I enjoyed a sumptuous traditional breakfast that included Idli,
Vada, Sambar, Chutney, and delightful sweets — a perfect start to a festive
day.
The best part of the occasion was reuniting with many of my college
classmates:

Meeting Sadashiva Mallya after such a long time was especially moving,
and it brought back many fond memories of our college days.
A Pleasant Surprise
I also had the pleasure of meeting my former student Harshitha, who was
pursuing her First Year M.Com when I served as the Director of the
Post-Graduate Department of Commerce at Govinda Dasa College PG Centre,
Surathkal. She introduced me to her husband, a Chartered Accountant in
Mangalore, and her in-laws, making the encounter even more delightful. I also
met Prof. Jagadeesha Rao, our former Additional Director of Collegiate Education,
at Bangalore.
A Grand Meal and
Cherished Moments
The wedding lunch, catered by Janatha Deluxe Refreshments, Mangalore,
was a culinary delight, reflecting the rich flavors of traditional South Canara
cuisine. We participated in a joyful photo session with the newlywed couple and the Parameshwar Adiga family after lunch.
Homeward Bound
After the celebrations, Madhu kindly dropped us at Lalbagh Bus Stand, where Ramesh P.R. and I boarded a bus back to Manipal. The journey back
was filled with laughter and conversation, rounding off a beautiful day.
Reflections
This was more than just a wedding. It was a celebration of friendship,
nostalgia, and togetherness. Events like these remind us of the beauty of
lifelong bonds and the shared joy of witnessing our children step into their
own futures.
Wishing Amritha and Anoop a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting
companionship.
