The Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Commerce organized a Decennial Celebration on 22/08/2022. Prof. Parameshwara, Chairman of the Department of Commerce at Mangalore University, was the chief guest for this momentous occasion. We had Mr. E. Janardhana, President of H.V. Sanga, and Mr. Shriranga H., Secretary of H.V. Sangha, Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Director of Administration at GDC, Dr. Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, former Director, and Dr. Heribert Nazareth, former coordinator of the PG Department, as Guests of Honor. The event was presided over by Prof. P. Krishnamoorthy, Principal of GDC.

The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the esteemed dignitaries. Mr. Sajan M. Acharya, Head of the PG Department of Commerce, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries. This was followed by introductory remarks by Mr. Sajan.

During this significant occasion, the PG Department of Commerce felicitated the former directors of the PG Department, namely Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Dr. Heribert Nazareth, Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, and also the rank holders.

As part of the decennial celebration, the PG Department of Commerce organized various competitions for PG students, including a sports day and a cooking competition without fire.

Ms. Bharathi delivered a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, alumni, and guests. Ms. Shwetha V. Pejathaya, a final year M.Com. student, adeptly compered the program.

A total of 11 students from the final year M.Com. and 26 from the previous year M.Com. were present to commemorate the occasion. 

 

ABC Laughter Yoga, Manipal celebrates 76th Independence Day

ABC Laughter Yoga, Manipal celebrated the 76th Independence Day of India with great fervour and enthusiasm on 15th August 2022 at MJC Grounds. Sri Hemanath Hegde, the senior club member hoisted the tricolour Flag amid the chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai". The celebration was a part of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," an initiative of the Indian Government to celebrate 75 years of progressive India and its remarkable achievements.

The celebration continued with singing of the National Anthem, Vande Mataram and Jana Gana Mana, invoking spiritual sovereignty and pluralism. The members paid their respect to the nation with their enthusiastic participation.

After the celebration, Sri Rajmohan Shetty, the Senior Member of the Laughter Yoga club, hosted a high tea for all the members at Hotel Anupama, where members socialized with each other and enjoyed light refreshments. Additionally, Sureshramana Mayya distributed sweets, adding a touch of sweetness to the festivities.

The Independence Day celebration was a great success, with the members coming together to celebrate the country's freedom and its progress over the past 75 years. The event was a testament to the spirit of unity and patriotic fervour that exists within the ABC Laughter Yoga community.

Attended the 66th Birthday Celebration of Nagaraj Shetty at Uva Meridian Amusement Park, Koteshwara

 

On 10th August 2022, the ABC Laughter Team in Manipal celebrated a special occasion in a unique way. It was the 66th birthday of their founder member, Mr. Nagraj Shetty, and the team decided to mark the occasion by organizing a day full of fun and laughter at the Uva Meridian Amusement Park in Koteshwara.

The celebration began early in the morning, with the team members assembling near Union Bank, Indrali at 6.15 am. The team started their journey to the amusement park at 6.30 am, and arrived at 7.10 am, ready to start the day's activities.

The laughter yoga session started at 7.30 am and lasted for an hour, with more than 24 members, including women, taking part in it. It was a great way to start the day and set the tone for the rest of the celebration. After the yoga session, the team members enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast at the Uva Meridian Resort.

The senior members of the team enjoyed the amusement park and its facilities, while the others participated in games conducted by Ms. Mallika Shetty and Ms. Shwetha Shetty. The buffet lunch at the resort was excellent, and the members celebrated Mr. Nagraj Shetty's birthday by cutting a cake and wishing him a happy and prosperous life.

The celebration ended with high tea and a vote of thanks by Karunakar Shetty at 4.30 pm. A Youtube video was created from the snaps of the event, which can be found below. It was a unique and enjoyable way to celebrate the birthday of a founding member, and everyone had a great time.

The ABC Laughter Team has a unique history of running laughing yoga sessions for more than 20 years, and this celebration was a testament to the strong bond shared by its members. It was a day filled with laughter, fun, and good food, and it was a great way to honor the founder of the team.
