Enhancing Research Quality Through Ethical Adherence: Insights from Dr. Shreemathi S

A comprehensive workshop on "Research Proposal Writing and SPSS Data Analysis" was conducted by Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya, Professor and Deputy Director of the Statistical Bureau at the Department of Statistics, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. The workshop, held at Prajna Hall, brought together staff and MBA students from Poornaprajna Institute of Management (PIM) on October 27, 2018.

Dr. Mayya, an expert in the field, delved into the multifaceted aspects of research proposal writing, providing profound insights into each step of research report creation through practical examples. She also demonstrated the application of SPSS software in social sciences research. Dr. Mayya emphasized ethical research practices, sharing measures to prevent plagiarism and highlighting the significance of adhering to ethical guidelines and codes of conduct.

The engaging presentation spurred active participation and interactions from both first- and second-year MBA students. Thought-provoking questions emerged, encompassing topics such as plagiarism prevention, survey-based research methodologies, and referencing styles. Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya meticulously addressed these queries, leaving no stone unturned in providing comprehensive guidance on ethical research practices.

The workshop, which spanned a half-day on Saturday, proved to be a productive intellectual exchange for the faculty and students of Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi. Dr. Bharath V, the Director of PIM, expressed gratitude for Dr. Shreemathi S Mayya's invaluable guidance during his M.Phil. and Ph.D. research endeavors. Dr. Bharathi Karanth, staff coordinator of the program, extended appreciation to Dr. Shreemathi Mayya for sharing her profound expertise without any honorarium. Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, the Dean of PIM and husband of the resource person, was instrumental in organizing the workshop for the benefit of both students and staff.

The event was attended by Dr. Sureshramana Mayya, the Dean of PIM, along with faculty members and first- and second-year MBA students. Student coordinators played a pivotal role in the event: Mr. Akshay US served as the master of ceremonies, Miss Aadya Bhat welcomed the gathering, Miss Aquilla Lora Perira introduced the chief guest, and Miss Amrutha proposed the formal vote of thanks. This workshop not only added academic value but also enriched the ethical research culture at PIM.
