PTA Meeting Marks Successful Annual General Body Gathering at MGM College

 On August 19, 2017, the Annual General Body Meeting of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at MGM College was held at the Nutana Ravindra Mantapa. The proceedings commenced at 2 pm with an invocation led by Miss. Supritha from the Department of Kannada. Dr. Vijaya MG, Head of the Department of Physics at MGM College, extended a warm welcome to the participants and elaborated on the advantages of being associated with MGM College.

Ms. Kusuma Kamath, the Principal of MGM College, provided an in-depth overview of the institution's facilities, academic advisory services, remedial teaching, and the role of parents in student development. She also addressed aspects such as dress code, discipline, and hairstyles, which garnered positive feedback from the attendees. Dr. Sureshramana Mayya expressed gratitude in proposing the vote of thanks.

The meeting witnessed active engagement from parents, who offered constructive suggestions for enhancing the teaching-learning process. Their inputs encompassed extending library timings and encouraging greater student department involvement. Dr. Daizy Vaj, the outgoing President of PTA, shared insights on the responsibilities of the PTA and lauded Dr. Shantaram for his dedication. Mr. Amith Kumar Shetty, Secretary of PTA, praised the Principal's impactful role in academic and student development. The Treasurer, Sri Suraj, presented the financial accounts.

Subsequently, the new PTA body was elected without opposition, with the following members taking up positions:

  1. Sri Ganesh Kotiyan, President
  2. Sri Nagaraj Pai, Secretary
  3. Sri Ganesh Bhat, Treasurer
  4. Smt Anitha Prabu, Smt Mamatha Joshi, and Sri Ramadas Prabhu as EC Members from the parent community.

The program was expertly compered by Sri Surendranatha Shetty, Head of the Department of Political Science. The event saw participation from more than 500 parents. Following the formal session, parents engaged with the academic advisors of their wards in various classrooms, fostering a sense of collaboration between parents, teachers, and the institution. The PTA meeting served as a platform for productive discussions, constructive suggestions, and collaborative planning for the academic year ahead.
